I have a few guidelines I use for myself, such as:
1- Don't mix more than three colors in one outfit.
Not unless you are ready and willing to deal with that degree of color matching.

Buckles, metal bits and stitches HAVE A COLOR, be aware of that and play it up instead of not giving a fuck. It will look like you give a fuck.
3- Be versatile.
No type of clothes or style is off limits, as long as you feel good wearing it. Wear shit, even if it's not the best cut for your body or if it doesn't highlight your best attributes. It's just clothes, have fun.
4- Have a concept.
have an idea of how you want to look and take it as far as you can: want to look professional? Wear elegant shoes, pants, top and accessories, don't just throw one thing on and call it that.
